The Centres for Internationalisation were launched formally today, by means of a Microsoft Teams Live event, incorporating guest speakers from Cardiff Metropolitan University, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore University of Management Sciences, National University of Science & Technology, Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design and British Council Pakistan.

The project brings together Cardiff Metropolitan University with Ecole Centrale de Nantes, University of Bologna, University of Salamanca, and the prestigious universities in Pakistan, all working together in the spirit of internationalisation.

Today’s launch event marks a key success and milestone in the projects endeavours. Despite the pandemic, our colleagues in COMSATS, LUMS, NUST and PIFD have worked tirelessly to scope and furnish the centres, procure the project equipment, and operationalise the centres through the appointment of a dedicated Centre Manager.

These Centres will provide a dedicated resource for students, staff, and members of the international virtual community, and will be a hub for international activities, connecting peers both nationally and internationally, and giving access to international experiences from within the boundaries of the campus itself.

We look forward to seeing the Centres develop and flourish beyond the lifetime of this project.

We would like to thank the guest speakers who provided such positive and inspirational words in celebration of the launch of the Centres:

  • Professor Cara Aitchison, President & Vice Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan University
  • Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad
  • Dr Asha Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences
  • Engr Javed Mahmood Bukari, Rector of National University of Science & Technology
  • Prof Hina Tayyaba Khalil, Vice-Chancellor of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design
  • Dr Nishat Riaz, Director Education at the British Council Pakistan

Finally, a big congratulations to our partners on the successful launch of their Centres for Internationalisation. This key milestone is a testament to the hard work and incredible efforts of the B-International teams at the partner universities in Pakistan! May the Centres be a hub for virtual learning, connecting cross borders and international collaboration for all.
